William Jay
William Jay (1769–1854) was born at Tisbury, Wiltshire. He worked as a stonemason in his father’s business, but then in 1785 entered the Rev. Cornelius Winter's school at Marlborough. A preacher at 15 years old he preached nearly 1000 sermons by the age of 21. He was a minister at Argyle Chapel in Bath from 1791–1853.
