Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge
SPCK (SOCIETY FOR PROMOTING CHRISTIAN KNOWLEDGE) is an Anglican mission agency founded by Thomas Bray in London, in 1698. The mission statement to: “promote learning in the plantations and abroad and to propagate Christian knowledge at home.” They produced pamphlets, tracts and books for private devotion and education. As part of the Episcopal Church they “work for the proclamation and understanding of the Gospel in and by all nations.” They distribute millions of books all over the world.
Theologically they follow the Church of England, and are a publisher of “The Book of Common Prayer” in 200 languages.
