Rev. George Charles Smith
REV. GEORGE CHARLES SMITH (1782-1863) was born in London, England. In 1814 he established prayer meetings for seamen and is said to be a pioneer of missionary work to seamen. His nickname was “Boatswain Smith.” He was minister of the “London Mariner’s Church.” He wrote many short works and edited The Sailor’s Magazine.
